Hello All,

I got my Raon Vega, It's running really great!

I had some problems watching movies, I changed the video memory size in the bios to 64MB. I guess it's a shared video memory. Now the movies seem to work fine.

The link goes to a pic of the Vega next to a iPod Video, a Blackberry 8700C, a Tag huer watch, and a Crawford Custom made Knife.

Just some Modern day Toys

If you like the knife, you can get one here: link

I have a question for you. If the unti does not have a fan does it get really, really hot? Also, could you, say, play music while it sits in a carrying case? Thanks.
Recent Blog: My UX180 thoughts....

Being that its plastic, it has even less heat dissipation than the OQO. I'd imagine that it has to have at least a processor fan, if not a vent fan as well. And if those fan vents are covered (say in a pocket or purse) then it will likely overheat. I don't think that the AMD Geode has an automatic overheat shut-off feature, but I could be wrong. You'd be best to carry it in your hand. Unless they make a metal case for it, in which case that might provide the dissipation required to let the unit run at least without overheating,.

i'm typing this right now on vega,

it gets hot.

but, if you use it while plugged in it gets really HOT

I Dont think it has any internal fans, it noiseless.

im still having some problems playing movies, i tried real player, vlc, windows media player.

the videos are choppy and freeze.

everyone i show it to loves it and they cant believe it only costs 937 delivered.

i love it, im in ihop now with my blackberry tied to it as a gprs modem.

I played with some settings in the VLC media player and I think that I have found the right settings to watch movie files in AVI and MPG

I have read your article. That's noce. Actually I'm also vega user in Korea. I'm proud that you think vega is nice.

We also have some movie players Gomplayer, KMPlayer etc... For the first time we also have some problems regarding watching movie.

But we've customized it so now we don't have any problem using it unless we're trying to watch high quality movie.

I hope my comment will be helpful. Thank you for reading my comment. Have a nice day.

What is its max external resolution supported ?

Does anyone know how this performs compared to the OQO Model 01 (Not plus)?

Thanks imawful, i will try those players you suggested. i think maybe the movie files i am trying to watch are just too big in file size. they are the same size i use to watch on my 110" hdtv projector. maybe i should convert them to a mp4 file first.
kyone, i think it's 1920 by 1440, but i havent tried it yet.

Hmmmm, I though the Vega would have no problems playing any video file. Oh well, I guess it's off my list........

Thanks Lasareath ^^ actually VEGA is not a desktop computer as you know. So not all movies are shown perfectly. VEGA's concept is portable device. It's true that UMPC in market is hard to carry it. I think you agree with me. Manufacturer needs to know that. As far as I'm concerned UMPC must be smaller. If they don.t, they can't make a benefit. Have a nice . See ya~

Hi
I also have problems playing video. And I can not access the Bios settings (I keep pressing the Del key while starting up the system, but no way... it just jumps to the Xp window and loads the OS). Any idea about how to enter the bios?

Hi lekarok .

Haven't you tried push the Del key with Alt key? You should use alt key. got it???

imawful,

I don't think it's hard to carry at all , I like it's size and weight, it's the first computer in like 7 years that I bring with me everywhere I go. The movie files are a pain. It's very strange, It's almost like there's a memory leak, I can play videos or movies fine for the first 9 to 12 minutes and then I can't play anything. If I restart, then I can play more video files for another 9 to 12 mins. It's very strange.

Lasareath

I tried originally Xvid AVI files, all the files were tv shows and around 43 mins long and about 330Megs in size, 9 to 12 mins and they lock up.
