Hi ShvaFooL,
I have found that if you lay the OQO Model 01+ down on a table close to you, so that you are looking down at it at not to great an angle from the vertical, it is quite easy to view the screen, and one finger hunting and pecking (or two fingers if you use both hands) is a quick and easy way to use the keyboard. I tend to place the soft cover (sleeve) under the unit to protect the back, and to stop it sliding. Likewise, IMO, using it with the stylus is easy and comfortable with the unit laid flat on a surface in front of you.

Thanks GreatDane, that makes sense.
How about glare on the screen that way? Would you say that is a problem: always, often, seldom, or never?
The HTC Shift makes me think, but I think it's just too big. To me the size of the OQO is such that I will never mind taking it along, and that's what I want.

I have never had a problem with glare on the screen. In fact, although the OQO Model 01+ screen is pretty dim, it is one of the units strongest points. It is truly daylight viewable, even with the back light switched off, due to the trans-reflective nature of the screen. It is the only laptop/handtop screen I have come across so far that is viewable in direct sunlight.

I rarely use the OQO at home in front of the TV these days and opt for my subnotebook.
I would get cramps performing long term thumb typing, so my subnotebook works better for me.
When I was on the road more, typing long term in a hotel was better with the OQO angled up and a USB keyboard and mouse connected.
It is also my out of the home machine.
I never sat it down flat on a table and leaned over and started typing. I cannot touch type on the OQO. It's not made for that really.

I wonder what the 02 will be like in direct sunlight ? I found the screen on the 01+ to be really good outdoors esp to be able to turn the back light right down to save battery power.
Speaking of using the OQO on a desk... it would be nice if the 02 model came with a very basic holder for using it on your desk without the docking station. Like a cheap plastic version of the 01 metal stand. I don't like docking stations as I'd prefer to just use the monitor cable plugged direcly into the unit and use BT keyboard and mouse etc. But a simple stand would be nice.
As for docking stations that come with DVD drives... I predict that within 5 years most retail software will come on a USB memory key... CD and DVD will be phased out and HD DVD will be used predominately for backups and movies only. The new data transfer medium will just be USB memory keys.

Hi all,
Any particular reason for not using it flat? I have never found it to be a problem, and quite comfortable as the unit is close to one, unlike with a laptop. It is not my preferred method of using the unit, but I have found it to be problem free when I have had to use it in that manner.
