Hello i'm new here and I am the owner of an OQO Model 01+.

Unfortunately the charger of my OQO was already replaced and seem it will be replaced very soon again. Does anyone know if I can buy some substitute charger that is not the original OQO? That way I could try and see if it works better.

Thansk for your help

Hi asoares,

Welcome to the forum.

The charger on the OQO Model 01 and 01+ has the battery charger usually found inside a laptop built into the charger itself, to save space in the unit. As such, no ordinary charger will work, and using one is probably going to damage the OQO, or battery, or both.

I don't know of any third party chargers that can be used with the OQO.

As some have done including myself you can use the car adapter portion of the power supply and plug that into a 110/240 to 12vDC power supply. The problem lies on the higher voltage side of the OQO power supply so usually the 12v side still works fine. Or, again as I have done, plug the 12v side directly into you computers 12v supply. When at home I only ever use the 12v from my computer to charge my OQO. At work I am yet to hook up to the 12v supply on my work computer. It works fine and it saves my 240/110 side of the OQO supply from any electricity surges etc.

I can confirm the problem!
The same happened to me and again after the replacement
I am in Europe, where the electrical currency is 220V, but it never happens with any other charger for the various devices I own.
And I have another problem too - the battery discharges even when the OQO 1+ is swithed off for about a week (and it is NOT in hibernating mode)

I want to buy OQO 02 as it suits my needs best of all the UMPCs, but the problem mentioned above stops me
As the charger of model 02 looks a bit different on the pictures, I want to ask the owners - has someone experienced electrical damage of that kind?
Thansk for your help!
