Add to that replacing the existing screen with a 5.4" WSVGA, and improving the keyboard, and I might go out and buy one!

And do something about the sucky keyboard, or go with some kind of voice interface.
And maybe make some features add-on, so people can build their own, cafeteria style, and possibly reduce the price.

What sony needs to do is redesign it so it is a touch type keyboard, slim the unit down and make in jacket size. The overall design is not bad just too bulky to catch on and too difficult for inputing text. I would say make the unit no larger than the Samsung SPH P-9000 as that is just barely jacket size.

I looked up that Samsung P9000 and to me that is the direction Sony should go. I would tweak your specs as follows to enable a better screen and adequate inputing:
* a 4" tft color screen
* a trifold design to provide a real touch type keyboard
* 64GB SSD,
* a 1.3MPixel webcam
* a 3MPixel cam
* 1.5~2GB DDR II RAM
* an ExpressCard Slot instead of MemoryStick Slot
* HDMI and another ExpressCard Slot in the Docking Station
* Intel's spanking new Merom Core U7600 Core2Duo CPU
* 6-8 Real-world hours on the Double Capacity Battery (so update the battery tech too) that is replacable
* built in bluetooth and wireless
