I received mine FS unit on Friday 4/6/07. So far so good with the Vista business version. It's a little bit heavier than my U50. I also order the thin battery but it is on back order right now.... hope that will bring the weigh down. The built in EVDO module works great I can watch live TV with my slingbox software at faster streaming speed than my USB u720 EVDO card. I love this unit so far...

Please tell me some details on how you started up the Sprint BB service. Can you say why you chose Vista business over XP with only 512 MB of RAM?
How is the keyboard and touchpad?

I called Sprint customer service to let them know the new ESN number on the FS unit and they was able to transfer the service from my existing USB pc card in less than 10 minutes. You must turn off the Wifi in order to turn on the cellular EVDO line. I guess this is kind of a hassel but it is not a big issue since I use EVDO more often than Wifi connection. I noticed faster internet with the build in Rev A compared to the u720 pc card b/c the usb pc card does not draw enough power from the notebook.

Running programs on Vista is just as fast as XP as long as you don't you use 3D features. I chose Vista b/c it is a newer window but I guess it is OK with XP. I know the downside is that 512 MB of RAM is nonupgradable.

The Unit doesn't get really hot after serveral hours of use. You can actually select 2 avail. fan speeds: quieter fan but hotter or nosier fan but cooler.I heard that the OQO 02 has very annoying fan noise. This is not a problem at all with the Flip Start. It is harder to use the touchpad with the Thumb (versus index finger) so I just use the track stick when I use it while standing. When it sits on the desk using the touchpad is just like using it on any notebook. The keys are more spaced out so typing is surprisingly easily. You can use either thumbs or index fingers to type.

So far the unit is great. I can surf the net anywhere without having to deal with an ugly usb pc card hanging out on the side of my sony U50 and a hard to type on screen keyboard of the U50.

Thanks, nguyenallan. I willl br ordering one sometime today. I do not have any Sprint wireless service, so how long will it take me to get the BB service activated? Unless someone can talk me into it, I am sticking with XP Pro for now.
Recent Blog: FS fan question

Flipstart has its own toll free # for you call to activate Sprint service. Since I am an existing customer, I have to call Sprint direclty. I don't think it will take long (probably in a couple of hours) to get service activated. You need to provide your Social Security, driver lic., your new ESN numbers to get your service activated. I think it's probably better to stick with XP for there is a little bit of a learning curve using Vista.
