Don't discounts usually mean that a new model is on the horizon? Either that or the current model is reaching the end of its cycle and this is a good way to rope in a few more potential buyers and sell off all remaining stock.

Yup... time to move what will potentially become stale and devalued stock. Smart move on behalf of OQO... only the discount needs to be more IMO in order to really move them.

One of the things I learned from watching HP is that they sell their devices for what the market will bear and then reduce the price in waves for additional sales. The price reduction certainly means that the market will not longer bear the OQO 01+ at its original price. That's at least in part due to the Sony UX. So it doesn't necessarily herald a near-time release of the new model. (However, speculation to that effect that keeps people waiting, rather than buying the competition, works in OQO's favor until the new model is released.)
I agree. It's a smart move for OQO and much better than waiting to drop the price until after the new model is out (as happened with the 01 to 01+ transition).

I think it is too soon for the 02...it was rumored that it was October. Anyway, they did hire or were looking long ago for an EVDO tech guy...so it would be sweet if they could put EVDO in the device...i.e. 01+ EVDO model w/ 16GB Flash Drive or 32GB...it would substantially increase battery life by my estimates of 20 percent (more than the 13 percent gain of the UX flash due to the component differences) and 3 to 6 times the speed for a very fast device; therefore making it substantially smaller form factor as the current HD in the OQO consumes a third of the inside space you could then pop that 4.5 inch 1024 screen and you'd have an even smaller, fast OQO that battery life rocks somewhere in the 3.5 to 4.5 hour range for the standard and double that for the double....all with the same components that are in the current system.
I think that would sell quite well.

They didn't make 6 blade fan first. If they did they would never be able to upsell. We are developing a Internet based buisness operation software that will allow any user to anyhwere and have access to the office. Anyone willing to donate their old 2 blade OQO or have Interest in being a Beta partner.
