I solder an extra USB port to the propriety usb under the Flipstart label on top of the computer. With the Fipstart facing you (the hinge is in the back), the connectors are:

How would you like a handtop powered by a AMD Turion64 X2 Processor?
Raon Digital hasn't officially announced it as yet and but it looks like they have one upped everyone else in the Handtop sphere with the world's first 64-bit Dual Core Handtop. If released, this will be the most powerful 7-incher and the most p

Finally a UMPC that resembles a true Handtop! While it is not perfect it is to me a usable form factor that will gain a lot of attention and hopefully we will see more such devices reach the US!
It runs full windows Vista, has mini usb, SD slot, while not perfect it does have a normal keyboard, 3.3 inches by 7.4" by 1",weighs about 1 lb, 1.3 ghz atom, 1 gig ram, 40 gig HDD, wifi, bluetooth, 5" screen with 1024x600, gsm capable, has both slider and clamshell ability much lik

Last week I researched how to subvert the Asus 701 (Eee)!
Last year I documented adding internal USB Bluetooth to another sub-notebook…
Now I’ve combined the two - I’ve added internal USB Bluetooth to my Eee without affecting the built-in wireless or using the empty mini PCIe card slot

After spending several evenings exploring the motherboard of my Asus 701 (Eee) for USB signals and 5V (off in standby) here’s what I’ve discovered.
There’s a 5V trace (off in standby) that’s available without draining current from the existing USB connectors - take a look at the picture above, snapped with my Sony Ericsson K850i (then scaled to 640×480 and annotated).

W-Eee I’m now officially one of the coolest kids on the block! I’m typing this post on my Asus 701 (Eee)…
I’ve quietly been keeping an eye on the Eee since it was announced a few months ago. After all, who’s not interested in a $399 ultra-portable sub-notebook?
Not to mention, it’s a particularly interesting device if, like me, you’re a blogger on-the-go, especially with the built-in webcam.
After using it for less than 24 hours I’m pretty impressed, and so are others, apparently. Th

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but Flipstart has released a rather awkward looking camera for their device:

This morning I popped my 02 out of it's docking cradle, played with it for a few moments, then the keyboard went dead. Totally DEAD. The track stick still moves the cursor, but no keypress registers, nor do the lights light up on Fn, CTL, ALT or SHIFT. Teck support had me run through a few things, but then issued an RMA for repair. External keyboard still works.
Anyone else have this problem?
