READ about the MINI PCI EXPRESS card being used in the OQO 02
If that is the interface for the WWAN card in the OQO 02 then you can change it out with another card from the same manufacturer for there various HSDPA cards which appear to be the same form factor and voltage! While I am sure one would void the warranty, some might consider this a viable option to get what they want from their OQO 02. This is what I am considering doing plus changing the Hard Drive to the new 64GB solid state drive from Seagate (FASTER than the old 32GB solid state drives)
I titled a topic wrong earlier so I am correcting with this new one.

Do you think the Flipstart Sprint EVDO Rev A module would fit in the 02?

Also, the article. written April 12, 2007 continues with "which leads us to believe that OQO will offer WWAN subscription services either from Verizon Wireless or Sprint"...
Hello? OQO has already announced their partnership with both Sprint and Verizon! This kind of poor reporting does not inspire confidence
*educationk12*, if it fits and you're with Sprint you'll probably be fine.

the article is speculating: "the WWAN chosen by OQO LOOKS A WHOLE LOT like Novatel Wireless’ EV-DO Expedite EV620 PCI Express mini card" [Emphasis mine].
The ARTICLE may be speculating but I did not read it that way and beside the proof is at OQOs WEB site in their knowledge base... IE. follow link below and see that OQO themselves states they are using this MODULE.

"1Trillion", OQO support mentions "The model 02 uses the following chipsets"... It's possible Novatel designed a Half Mini PCI Express card based on the same chipset!
Chipsets are often used on multiple cards.
The EV620 card from Novatel is a full Mini PCI Express card, but there's no mention anywhere of an ES620 card. Perhaps ES stands for "small", ie. Half Mini PCI Express?
Bottom line: you don't know for sure and I don't know for sure - but I can ask the people at OQO

Hi tnkgrl,
Could you possibly ask them about the projected date for HSDPA in the 02 at the same time?

*GreatDane*, I've already asked... I'm not sure we're going to see an HSDPA version anytime soon!

I have some more info...
I was wrong: the EVDO module in the Model 02 is indeed a "full" Mini PC Express module! That's a large chunk of real estate.
However, I was right that there are both internal and external (retractable) antennae for the EVDO module which support the 1900/800(850) EVDO bands
So installing an HSDPA module would require a SIM card holder to be somehow connected to the module, and would possibly require additional antennae when roaming outside the US.

Looking at the inside of the OQO 02 I think I have found a few places were a SIM CARD holder (http://www.alphamicro.net/components/category~line~15~id~28.asp) could be placed/added (See page 9 of this PDF Document [ link] )

*1trillion*, as I already mentioned, there's room for a SIM card on the back of the computer if you look at the FCC documents and there's even a matching indent on the back of the battery - link
