OQO 02 updated with 1.6 Ghz cpu, SSD and EV-DO Rev. A

Nice high end updates, but some maybe interested in low end models as starting price is dropped to $1,299.

good news!! I wonder if the clock speed will see a noticeable improvement on performance? I'm sure combined with the SSD it should.

does the 1.6ghz just increase speed or have they changed the chipset offering full Vista support (Aero)?

i know OQO reads this website. the SSD is definitely a step in the right direction but until you guys remove those silly scroll bars & replace it with a 5.6" 1024x600 alot of buyers wont even bother. running through interpolation just isnt good enough as it consumes valuable system resources (something all UMPC's have very little to spare).

Dude I totally agree. Those scroll bars are just corny, screen real estate is far more important.

Actually I like the scrollbars

$200 price drop on the OQO 02... as an early purchaser, where's my $100 in-store credit? Come on, there's precedent!

I like the scroll bars too< but I would gladly give them up for 1024x600. The UX has that resolution with a smaller screen than the 02.

I still reckon 1024*600 works best on 5.6-7inch screen. Anything smaller than 5.6inch would generally not be to good for your eye.

I reckon OQO 03 with 1024*600 at 5.6-6inch ( hopefully still pocketable ) with less noise and a touchscreen would be nice.

The FMV-U8240 seem to be fine but get rid of the fingerprint and trim the fat around the screen and I would definitely get one and upgrade to windows XP.

At the moment the OQO 02 seem fine for its intended purposed " most pocketable PC " and now with faster CPU and SSD, it is looking even better....shame about the price though.

i'd buy oqo 03 with 5.6 and touch in milliseconds!

btw. if u calculate FMV-U8240 total volume, it's actually bigger than htc shift... link

I don't suppose there is any chance that OQO will start selling upgrades to the SSD drive for those us early adopters that REALLY want that upgrade? I would gladly pay for their time and trouble, but otherwise their isn't enough of an upgrade here for me to justify ANOTHER OQO purchase (already bought the 01, 01+ and 02 best)!

If OQO is reading ..my vote is no touch, active screen is best , 1024*600

Yeah, an upgrade program would be nice. I would hold out for a 64gb, expensive as it may be. I am done with 30gb stuff.

There is an ssd upgrade program

Good grief...5.6" screen?
You'all are making my pocketable handtop bigger and bigger...stop...post on the Flipstart or Sony UX website.

800x600 is optimum for a 5" screen while keeping it pocketable.

If OQO is listening, they should make 2 variation units.

OQO 02 5inch screen at 800*600 passive touch screen (similar to sony UX)
OQO 02b 5.6-7inch screen at 1024*600 passive touch screen (similar to sony UX)

That way they can capture most of the UMPC market. Not sure if this path of having two models can reduce or increase their manufacting cost?

The only thing holding me back is that it is still expensive here in Australia. Also the quality is of a concern to me since there numerous reports of issues. However, their design is state of the art and for this reason, they should be thinking of at least 2 variation models if Benefits > Cost
