Is it worth $200?
I'd rather get a low end Dell for $400 and decide Vista or Ubuntu at this point.

Are you people kinding me.
You pull out your old OQO 01+ that kills this device insofar as the whole package considering size, weight, performance, storage, perperials.
This machine is a joke and I am surprised anyone that once owned an OQO years ago would even look at it.
Its for kids people.

Thanks for the feedback.
I have to admit being intentioanlly ignorant of anything Eee related. Maybe Ill start opening my eyes more rather than covering them when I see Eee.
If you use and like it then I guess it must be worthwhile.
Also, I am thinking of selling my 01+. If I do then I hope no one thinks its because Ive gotten the Eee bug : )

At this point I'm really missing the bluetooth on the Eee. I hope someone figures out an easy way to get a dongle to work. I am still taking my similarly sized 1610 to places I would prefer to take the Eee, just because of the BT DUN.
$200 for the Eee certainly is quite a deal. I plan to pick up a 2G when it comes out. I don't think I would get any performance boost for my purposes from the 8G, but I am real curious to see how the 2G performs.

$200 for the 4G on eBay--see the link above. That was quite a deal, and very lucky.
The 2G will be $300 supposedly. If they crank it to $350 I won't bother.

Isnt a 4G machine just going to lead to thousands of dollars of frustration ?
What can you do with 4G of storage ?

The Eee does make me wonder again why the 02 can't have better video playback. I guess it's just a windows issue, but it seems that so many lower cost devices play video better, it makes me wonder if it's fixable for the 02. Has anyone tried video playback on an XP Eee? It would be interesting to compare.

I'm looking into buying the Asus Eee PC 8G when it's for sale on Dynamism. The HTC Shift looks like a dream machine, but the price is not. I am a writer and I like to have a UMPC on the go when the mood to write strikes me. I'm currently using a Jornada 728, but it's old and I need to upgrade.
