thanks!
maybe not too helpful, but based on these pictures, I estimate:
[[[[[[230 x 150 x 30 mm - about the same as an EEEPC,]]]]]
[[[[[so it probably fits more or less into the same (size) class]]]]].

edit:
based on these pictures and JKK's insight, I estimate that I have
poor photo-interpretational skills.

Too big I reckon

Yeah not too much info available at this time but something..

way bigger than Eee ...

8.9 inch screen + 1 inch on both sides of the frame = 270 x 180

Yes but still a lot smaller than the smallest APPLE

Its not a umpc in my book, more a subnotebook. Is it actually any smaller than the sony tx?

I won't disagree with that in MY book, a UMPC is only what can be considered a HANDTOP.

I'm not sure what "8.9 inch" means, but if its really 270 x 180, those are *darn* big ether/USB ports....
(or I suck at photshop. Probably the latter )

16/9 8.9 inch screens are about 200 mm wide.. ( visible area, 225mm total )
as you can see on those pix, it has alot of space on the frame ( frame border around the screen )

.. so add about 25 mm x 2 to 200mm = 250mm minimun..

.. P1610 with 8.9 inch screen is 232 mm wide with much less frame.
..they also say the keyboard is "nearly full-sized QWERTY (95% of full)" ... Eee keyboard is not that big..

I saw that quote too
How can a umpc have a "nearly full-sized QWERTY (95% of full)" ?, either thats a misquote of a spokeman or HPs marketing dept have gone mad calling this a umpc

Well, at least it's a good sign for the UMPC category that marketing folks are going out of their way to try to squeeze things into the category......

Looking at the keyboard, it goes all the way to the edge of the device, so I can see how it could be nearly full size. Time will tell...

Oh yes it can since this really isn't a POCKETABLE UMPC at all, and even the Qwerty Jornadas had 76% of full size keyboard keys: link and they were pocketable to some degree, I got along well with the 680-728 for almost half a decade
