Trackstick - click down = left click?

Does anyone know any registry hacks that would make the click down action of the trackstick perform a left click?

Right now it does nothing when you click the trackstick, and it would be great if I could turn that into a left click.

Thanks!

Wow, you mand me look; I didn't realize the track stick had a click down. Yea, that would be great.

Your assignment, should you chose to accept it, is to figger out a way to make the down click of the track stick useful!

I recall in one of the post Kamodt said that Flipstart leaves that feature out since it will make the mouse pointer unstable.

I remember the post, but I still want to be able to use it! I looked at the registry, and there is a NumberofButtons entry with a value of 2. I set it to 3 and didn't notice a difference. I gotta think the driver supports it...

Although left click would seem the best use for it, if it causes frustration because it causes the pointer to move, well there are any number of other useful things.

Why not a user assignable shortcut? That way you could have a quick link to your favorite app.

Yeah and then everytime the trackstick mistakes your movement for a click you open your application.

I think in this situation the designers might have had a pretty good reason for not including it.

Everytime I "pretend" to click the trackstick, the mouse pointer does not move at all.... I don't understand why they would not have at least left this as some type of optional functionality. I mean, you can customize the trackpad this way to sunday (it has become a nice scrolling mechanism for me btw by fully increasing the scrolling regions).

And why not let me decide? At least make the option available, it could be turned off by default!

One difference (from what I can tell) between the trackstick and touchpad...

touchpad is pretty much a stock Synaptic hardware module-
it may have some FS custom features, but the drivers and software appear to be pretty much
as Synaptics left them. All the configuration options you have are from their API.

The trackstick appears to be hardware that Vulcan/FS made themselves, or had custom made for them.
The only features its API supports are the ones that were put in there on purpose- for this specific device.

Because Synaptics has been making pointer devices for years, their API has grown into a Katamari ball....
Not every touchpad can do all these nifty things, but support is there for most of them.
I'd be surprised if the FS trackstick drivers have very much unused code or support many features other than
the ones that were intended.

(Well, pleasantly surprised. I wouldn't l mind being wrong )

elsewhere - I think you are exactly right...
