Had a couple bad Vista crashes on my Flipstart and got frustrated and decided to go back to the OQO 02 (which I haven't touched since I got the FS).

Well, it wasn't a pretty experience. Missed the FS keyboard, screen and performance. And lord I forgot how LOUD the fan in the 02 is.

So I restored the Flipstart and I am now back to the best UMPC.

Any of you guys tried to make the trip back to some other device and found it's not up to the FS?

Wodin, you are definately in the minority but everyone has their own preference. Not many have bought any of the UMPC's that require a "manpurse".

As a former Sony UX owner, I would have to guess that would be ALL OF THEM. Especially here in Hawaii where we don't generally have coat pockets!

Is there any known issue on the Wifi, I re-install the driver and I don't have any problem with 15min dropping but the problem is when FS resuming from long slumber, wifi still detecting the wireless but can't connect to them unless I restart the wifi.

Anybody experiencing this problem ?

(my first FS doesn't have this problem my second is, is it Hardware issue ? My second has new HDD, but it have been dropping since before the HDD).

Thank you for the help

Install FlipStart SP2

Done that Orgwon, and thank you for the help on the ebay =)

My theory is the firmware was change.

Sounds like Vodo to me!

you could add every concievable techno feature in a flipstart but until you make it jacket pocket size with a touch type keyboard it will never gain mainstream sales and thus die as it has.
For those looking for a jacket to fit the OQO. I picked up a UPS jacket. The right pocket fits it great!

primaz, not to be rude, but I think we all get your point about size and keyboard. Have you ever even used a Flipstart?

Either way, nothing is *really* touch type-able except a full size keyboard. How in the world can you touch type on something that goes in your pocket anyway, unless it's a bluetooth keyboard.

With regards to the Flipstart, I also have an Oqo 02, which is still one of the smallest UMPC's. And guess what? The 02 is just as inconvenient to lug around as the Flipstart. In my opinion, it's more a question of weight than size. I can make both of them fit in my pocket, but then it's very heavy so I end up carrying it. And in the end, the FS is a much more enjoyable device to use than the 02, so that is what I normally prefer.

There is a way to get both of them.

I was thinking Folding Laptop. Like the Fujitsu Prototype, but make the screen fold too.

I understand electronic ink paper can roll up like a window shade. Maybe that's the ticket; an Ultra Moble Electronic Scroll (UMES) with one of those flexable keyboards.

snowviper, you might look at the Samsung sph p9200 it is a real computer like the Fujitsu prototype as it folds in three sections to provide a keyboard about full size and a decent size 4-5" screen; the only problem it is wimax and sold only in Korea. They probably do that as in the US we are so far behind in wireless that they think there is no market in nonwimax countries?

primaz: I was looking at that, but when I saw the processor, I hate it. (have to many TC pros and hate it but keep buying). for my sub I have my FS and I'm happy with it ( Itronix MR1 would be better tho, but no do).

wups I mean no doe.

Anyway I'm still looking for my normal lappy .

I'm eying this:
