@wodin, your run 881u right?
I'm about to run same setup, should I go 875u instead 881u ?

@snowviper
The 881 works fine, and is probably a better fit since it has two antenna connections for the two antennas in the FS where as the 875 only has one.
My problem is reception in my office, not the modem's fault. When I went outside, it worked ok.
I'm thinking tho' that the antenna that came with the modem, and was glued to the PCI card might be trimmed better for GSM.
I'll try sticking that one in the spare room inside the FS' cover if I can ever find a round tuit.

@nguyenallan yes, turning my N95 into a router with JoikuSpot makes it pretty much just as fast as surfing the web on the iPhone with normal WiFi... Keep in my that JoikuSpot drains the battery pretty fast (3G + WiFi)!

@wodin, if you're in the US, 3G (HSDPA/UMTS) uses the same frequencies as 2G (EDGE/GSM), ie. 1900 and 850 MHz - same frequencies as EVDO/CDMA even.

@tnkgrl, I was getting better reception at the office yesterday when I was running in USB mode. The only real difference is the antenna, and a little thicker plastic case between it and the world.
Perhaps the 881 antenna has a little better gain. I don't know, except it worked better before; but not enough better to revert back to USB mode.

@wodin there's probably an NMEA-compatible serial device now listed in the device manager... Just point your GPS software to this serial device!

@tnkgrl,
Thanks for the response, but no such animal! there are about 50 serial ports listed including a couple that say something like Sierra Wireless port, but none reference NMEA or GPS.
Also I downloaded the Simple GPS finder from CNet, and it didn't find a GPS either. I'm thinking that the Sierra website lies.

Ok, I just upgrade mine with 881U.
Then I tested on Speakeasy
this is what I got:
2.1MB Down
750 Up
is it correct, it seem very fast.

Mine's been running around 400 to 600 down and 200 to 400 up.
AT&T says they'll have HSUPA rolled out system wide by the end of June. Maybe your one of the ones who's got it.

I don't believe changing out the WWAN card voids the warrenty. You don't remove the warrenty sticker like you do to change out the hard drive.

Mine doesn't have a SIM sticker. It's probably not going to be an issue.

Better make sure it's got a SIM slot. Hard to run a HSUPA miniPCI modem without one!
Also, you might need to use the antenna that comes in the AirCard 881U if there isn't one in the FS.
