So I'm thinking about performing the HSDPA mod tnkgrl performed but I'm a little worried about the soldering. Anyone else attempted this who can give me some advice on how difficult the soldering was?

It is some what difficult but very do able.

1. make sure you have a small soldering head (for 05052007242.jpg looks quite small).
2. Solder the socket first (get extra socket just in case)
3. DO NOT RUSH take your time. (what I mean is plan your attack and you hand position etc.)

use Flux! Not flux cored solder but use a solid core and solder flux

Yep!

Flux like this link

Here's a video showing how nicely and easy it is when the correct flux is being used even though not by far the most ideal soldering iron:

Here's a video using solder paste and hot air gun (just as it would be soldered in the factory, meaning the solder paste has both solder and "flux" in there), clearly being done under a microscope:

makes me want a hot air setup....I got one of those Cold Heat guys some time ago just for use in the tool box. WHAT A POS. That thing eats AA's in a few solders. But with that gun I like to think of them as welds.

A good hot air (read professional) costs a few dollars though
