No, I'm not going to start a stupid Which Is Better thread. I just want to know from someone who has *both* (and I believe at least one person here does), if the screens are actually the same size. If so, are the fonts actually larger on the OQO screen in something like, say, IE when browsing the same website? I'm probably confusing something here, but since the OQO has fewer pixels, it makes me wonder about font size.

I just got to fondle both a U70P *and* a U750P tonight. The first at RCS with WiFi enabled. The second at SonyStyle w/o WiFi. I can't see how *anyone* would prefer to use the limited browsers and speed of a PDA for WiFi after trying it on this thing.

Oh, that segues into another point: are page builds basically the same speed on the OQQ and U when WiFi-ing?

No takers?!

I started a similar thread.

There are about 4 folks here with the Sony U and OQO ownership icons under their names. I was hoping that one of them would speak up also.... ;)

The fonts of u70 are notisably smaller than oqos.
Page builds of u70 are faster than oqos eventhough both are wifi-ing in same speed (802.11b). In my house, u70 is much faster cuz of 802.11g and u70's wifi reception is good also stable.

I don't say not compare u70 and oqo. But I'd like to say that u70 is significantly larger and heavier than oqo when you see them both side by side in real life. To me, they belong two differnt classes.

Wow. I didn't expect that reply! The OQO is actually more readable?

All fonts in all programs are user selectable so that shouldn't be a factor.

Ah, but I mean out of the box, natively. Anyway, my original point was: Are the pixels the same size on both devices? OQO claims a 5" screen, so does Sony. Yet side-by-side pics show the OQO to demonstrably have a *smaller* screen, even taking into account the fewer vertical pixels!

The stylus accuracy is hopeless on the U50/70. I tried the unit at the SONY shop. May be the technology is like that!

They have the same screen size, but the number of Pixels (screen resolution) for the OQO is 384,000 (800x480) and the Sony U70 is 480,000 (800x600).

More about Pixels: link

The Sony screen is more brilliant according to another post that I can't find.

The font sizes can be changed. OQO took the time to optimize their UI, Sony did not.
At 5", the screen is very readable on the U50 for me.

Ok, so how do I change the fonts on the U? I'd like to see what others look like.

Display properties-->Appearance

You can change the Item and Font sizes.

OQO took the time to reconfigure this specific to their screen resolution.

Also if go into control panel-->Display-->Setting-->Advanced-->Font Size-->Chose a size ( I went with 150%) then all the writing gets bigger, much easier to read. I now have my U set to 1024X768. I can read it and scroll around it's very easy on the eyes.

Thanks, guys. I set my DPI to 120% and it looks great now! This site has really small print!
