The OQO Model 02 has landed… It has been anticipated for months, but it’s here, in my dirty little hands!
Enjoy the unboxing pictures, complete with “bento box” notes and first boot. Now I’m off dealing with Sprint for the SERO discount

The dust is settling, and the horizon is again in view, but the short term outlook is not as pretty as might have been expected some six months ago. In the short term at least, until Intel releases Menlow with the Silverthorne CPU, we can expect the majority of Handtop and UMPC devices to be constrained to an extent with low performance CPU's.
While there are some notable exceptions to the low powered CPU rule, the Sony UX at present being the most outstanding of these, the writing was on th

I would like to report on my first week with FS.
I am a gadget freak and so far FS did not disappointed me. Machine runs smooth, quiet and not too warm. I run the Vista Business and so far the limited memory did not give me real headache. The Vista is OK, but does not seem a real improvement over XP. It froze reliabli a few times already. Connectivity is great and runs smooth. I just love the feel and the texture of the machine. I was always partial to the clamshell design, I even had the Sony

This is a really interesting, and timely addition to the "Handtops as a Consumer Electronic Device" idea. link Here we have a bunch of wearable and compact devices that are a bit outside the box. link
It is nice to see a company like Intel doing some free thinking, and bodes well for the future of UMPC's in general.

Hello All.
Yesterday I had the pleasure of examining an OQO Model 2 at RCS in New York City. The well-informed clerk who assisted me said that RCS rapidly sold out of all of their stock of 18 and has a growing backorder list. Like others before me, I drove hundreds of miles to give it a grope to satisfy my anticipation needs.
It’s a very impressive piece of hardware. The first thing that stood out was the display. It’s crisp and clear and a dramatic improvement over the Model 01. The z

Looks really do count! The OQO Model 01/01+ and the Flipstart are two of the best examples of what really works, and what really does not.
No Flipstart bashing here, but it has become increasing evident that the Flipstart's looks, more than any other single factor, are its worst enemy.
Looks are not nearly as subjective as we all might like to think. We are genetically pre-disposed to be attracted to good looking people. Without going into a huge amount of detail, substantial research con

I received mine FS unit on Friday 4/6/07. So far so good with the Vista business version. It's a little bit heavier than my U50. I also order the thin battery but it is on back order right now.... hope that will bring the weigh down. The built in EVDO module works great I can watch live TV with my slingbox software at faster streaming speed than my USB u720 EVDO card. I love this unit so far...

I received my FS yesterday. So far I am happy with it. There is one little item that seems a mystery for me. Whai is behind the small FlipStart sliding window on the top of the machine. It looks like a SIM card or a small SD card slot, but the connecting elements seem a little akward. There is absolutely no mentioning of it im the onboard users manual or at the FS website. I am at a loss. Any answers out there?
