Much has been made of the relative performance of the VIA C7M CPU v/s the Intel Pentium M/Core Solo CPU's, based on various benchmarks. I am not at all sure that this is of any great significance. The current crop of Intel CPU's are big, expensive, power hungry and hot compared to the VIA CPU's. The big question is – Is the OQO Model 02 any better than the Model 01+?
The answer to that question subjectively would seem to be an unequivocal YES. Every report I have come across to date on the

From various comments it seems folks here are generally down on vista for handtops. I've never tried vista, but from what I read, it runs as fast as XP if you have aero turned off. The readyboost feature sounds like it should be a definite advantage, especially considering a slow hard drive. I've been planning on oredering my OQO-2 with Vista with that as one reason. I have the impression others don't see it this way, so I'm wondering why.
Anyone care to throw in their 2 cents?

Now that Intel and Samsung have shown us where the UMPC components are going, the Sony UX fans will probably agree with me that the next logical thing the performance leader of the UMPC-scape should do is upgrade, and upgrade BIG!
So Sony, if you're listening we the humble citizens of UMPC-l

Due to the enthusiast nature of this forum, and the obviously high level of technical know-how of the individual members, we all sometimes miss the point, just as the industry generally has been missing the point from day one. The success of the Handtop form factor, and its very existence, is dependant not on the size and type of keyboard, or the screen resolution, or the CPU, RAM , HDD, OS, or any other technical detail. Those are simply components. The success of the Handtop form factor is dep

Question for current OQO users: I can see thumb typing or tablet style use when standing or sitting not at a table. I am wondering about the experience of using the OQO if you are seated at a table or desk. Is the fixed & flat position of the screen uncomfortable in that type of setting? It would seem setting it down on a surface is not a practical way to use it. Anyone care to comment?

Every market needs a “Model T Ford” to impart momentum and propel it to critical mass. This is rarely the invention that started the whole thing of, but most usually the mass market unit that is affordable and catches the public's attention and imagination. It is not inconceivable that the HTC Shift is one such product.
Inventions tend to come in clumps. Circumstances often produce a number of different inventions addressing a similar problem all within a short time period. It is axiomatic t
