this is made by taiwanese company arima. years ago arima was one of four taiwanese suppliers for compaq notebooks. today arima is producing a lot of products (like phones or pc`s) which outside asia are branded with the "medion" label and are distributed via the german supermarket group "aldi". and arima is known as a winner of the german "red dot award" for product design link i think the design of the best looking arima products is from nova, one of the famous companys specialized in product design in asia

Hi Captain,

I am greatly in favor of the smaller 6.5" screen on UMPC's, (I would like one with a 5" screen even more!) and from the glimpses of this unit on various forums, it looks like it might be moving in the right direction, with the VIA CPU, attached keyboard etc.

The traditionalist in me rebels against the concept of the split keyboard. I have never used one, so this is perhaps an unfair comment, but my typing style when not holding the unit would probably not suit a split keyboard. I know that the keyboard is designed for thumb typing on a wider unit, but it just feels wrong. In this I am probably in a minority of one. Thanks for the post.
