If you guys have had a problem with your 3D screen savers and wondering why it says it cannot support some of windows standard 3D screen savers like PIPES or FLYING TEXT some of those. To fix this is simple with my instructions.
1. go to run and type in DXDIAG
2. the new window that pops up, in the right lower corner of the window will be a loading box, wait till it is fully loaded before you go any further.
3. After loading is complete, there will be tabs at the top of the page, click on display.
4. Down on the right hand corner you will see "DirectX Features"
Make sure that "direct draw acceleration:" is enabled, same goes for direct 3D acceleration should enable as well. Under that is will say AGP texture is not available, don't worry, this is normal. Just make sure those two things listed ARE enabled. If not then enable them.
(you could also enter this dialog box in the future to runt tests on your 3D drivers.)
5. Exit the window, right click on your wallpaper and enter settings, change the color quality from 24 bit down to 16 bit, save the changes and your 3D screen savers will work, this also goes for most 3D game you will wanna play on the unit, it will need to be on 16bit.
I know, this is low resolution, but you really will not notice a difference on the OQO screen. The reason the 3D drives will only work on 16 bit is because the possessor cannot handle the 24bit as it bogs down when trying to render the 3D devices. So when your not playing games or running anything that needs directX 3D support, you can change it back to 24bit color.
I will say if you look at the power out but, it saves more battery on 16bit color as the processor does not work as hard..
PS: to make your screen bright for a new function incase no one knew, it's FN BR which is the < > keys, one has an up arrow and the other has a down arrow to adjust the screen lighting..
Hope this info helps you guys..
