First Impressions
Some random thoughts after my first day of OQO use...

* The overall design is remarkable. Extremely well crafted, unbelievably small.
* The screen is amazing. Bright, crystal clear. The first thing I did was set the font size from Extra Large back down to Normal, and it's great. You quickly forget how small the screen is. Unfortunately the colors are quite muted.
* The TrackStik is awesome. I've only ever used touchpads before, but I'm finding it very natural to pick up.
* The keyboard works well (I typed this entirely on it). The modifiers (shift/ctl/alt/fn) are particularly well done. I just wish the keys were illuminated.
* WiFi: after hibernating I found that the wireless adapter wasn't working. I found there is a KB article on this. I hope they find a fix for it soon. I was able to get LEAP authentication working using a demo of Funk's Odyssey client, which I'm pretty excited about. I've found the signal strength to be surprisingly good, only slightly less than my laptop. I can get a weak signal two floors below my base station.
* Performance during normal use is actually better than I was expecting. It feels responsive. Doing something more intensive like installing a large app can bog it down, but no more than I expected.
* The stylus is very flaky. This is my only real disappointment so far. I've tried calibrating it several times, keeping it perpendicular to the screen as they suggest, but no matter what I do it just doesn't seem to work very well near the edges of the screen. Worst of all, when I go to the right edge it clicks on its own, without the pen even touching the screen. It makes scrollbars really hard to use. I've all but abandoned the pen.
* I wish they had stuck with the docking cradle instead of a simple stand. Hopefully one will come later.

Overall, this thing rocks. On to day two!
