Well, it was fun while it lasted...
The unit that I received lasted all of one day (and probably only lasted that long because it was plugged in/charging on Wednesday evening).
The problem seems to be related to the little hooks that hold the battery in place when its attached to the unit... Or it could be a problem with the contacts or the battery latch... Regardless, the smallest amount of movement or pressure (i.e. The kind of pressure you'd apply when pressing a key on the keyboard) can cause the unit to lose power. Pushing the unit into its case does it every time... I have to detatch and reattach the battery "just so" just to get the thing to turn on every time I take it out of its case.
What this means is that putting the unit in standby mode is out of the question, and using it without the charger is next to impossible. I gave up today after the unit randomly lost power and switched itself off three times in five minutes.
So I've moved out of the order line and right back into the RMA line... :-/
I suspect that getting it repaired or replaced is going to be as long and painful as the order process (which, unfortunately, many are still suffering through). I'm still waiting for an RMA number and was told that I "should have my OQO or a replacement by the end of next week". I can't think why, but somehow I don't believe them any more... I've all but given up on the idea of having an OQO with me during my business trip to Europe in a couple of weeks. At this point, I'm just hoping I'll have an OQO when I go and visit my family for the holidays... The Christmas holidays...
My hope, for the sake of everyone who has ordered and/or received an OQO , is that this is a problem with *my* OQO... And *just* my OQO...
