tnkgrl, I read where you partitioned your drive for your averatec to do a dual boot run of XP and Apple OS X. I was wondering if this is really possible for the oqo, and if so is it possible to do this with the oqo. Also, linux would be cool too.

If anybody else knows then please respond. I am clueless.

Actually it would be great to have an oqo with tablet 2005 OS, OS X and linux. Possible?

oh cool, thanks. I was looking for something better. engadget's website is cool, but their podcast is for people who like wasting an hour to hear about a few products. I wish they would give a short podcast about the stuff on their website so I could listen to it while driving, that way I wouldnt have to waste my time going to their website and skimming through their posts.

As for the OQO apps on Tablet XP. The 01+ software works fine how ever you have to hand install it as there are no install files. Just the raw apps and the OQO service."

I'm not at all interested in linux on a stick.... I'd much prefer to have it installed locally so that I don't have to remember to bring a stick along.

Anyway, I just blew away the original install and installed XP Tablet 2005, during that install I had it partition a 19gb slice for XP and the remainder for linux. Once I got XP Tablet setup how I liked, I just installed ubuntu breezy and applied the patches per the instructions in the OQO unsupported linux page. It was actually an easy enough install... it had just been years since I've dual booted anything (all my other boxes at home run linux only (debian).

You are right... XP Tablet is better... and very nice to be able to scratch (not litterally) out some notes. The Windows Journal app is pretty nice for that, though I'm going to play around with OneNote 2003 a bit to see how that is.

I had never run ubuntu before so I didn't know what to expect... it seems to be a dirivitave of debian (I should read up more on ubuntu, just haven't had the time) so I feel almost at home. Wifi and wacom drivers installed easily, haven't tried bluetooth, though I don't use BT ever so I might get around to it sometime. I ended up going with the vesa drivers for video as I couldn't get the siliconmotion driver to stick... everytime I would install the modified driver (with 800x480 support) the auto updater would recommend that I re-install all of the newer versions of xorg... oh well... the vesa driver seems to work fine.

Overall, I'm very happy with the dual boot... now if I can only figure out how to get the OQO to automagically recognize when I plug in the docking cable and switch the video
