I hear you, I'm hoping there's competition because it's only good for consumers and should spark innovation.

As a general rule I don't beleive anything until I see it (on the market and for sale) and therefore will never compare a prototype, demo, coming soon, etc. to any product that is already saling and is on the market.

Companies consistently will put stuff for display to the media or at trade shows with the specific intent to FREEZE PEOPLES DECISION MAKING.

Look at Dualcore. Perfect example of a product that will never make it to market however a lot of potential buyers of other products were FROZEN from buying REAL products. Another example is Flipstart. Heck there are thousands of examples.

The for you see this stuff the more everyone should give Jory Bell almost god status for what he accomplished as a startup. The OQO is so totally awesome. If the OQO were more successful maybe Jory could have made it to Steven Jobs status.

The OQO is more of an accomplishment and engineering marvel than the first Apple computer.

the concepts typically work like any other car would, or at the very least LOOK like they would work.

Lol! Do you guys actually notice that the CEO is part of the financial company that has invested a round of dollars? Bell was canned! He wasnt bringing the company where they needed to be so they kicked him out of the role. What does that say for OQO? Lets be honest OQO will be a dinosaur next year.

Well to me it says he is better designing things, and you know being an engineer than he is at being some corporate business guy. I don't see anything wrong with that.

Time will tell on your last comment, but I seriously doubt it. I see a bright future for them, and so does my money.

All you have to do is listen to the first minute of my podcast - I think Jory is happier (better?) at doing engineering work than at doing business work.

Jory will hopefully be fine.

If it turns out that OQO was losing money AND, the reason that it was losing money was that the OQO was underpriced considering the engineering and cost associated with manufactuering it, then we own a peice of hardware that will not easily have a competitor anytime soon. Even the best management in the world will not overcome a high cost to produce product that sells for less than break even.

Maybe management was awful and the cost of making the OQO was not the issue. We do not know.

Maybe the Sony U could never be the size of the OQO without Sony selling the thing at $3000 in order to make a profit. Thats why the U and these other new things are still so large.

I remember hearing somewhere that the new OQO management wanted to go vertical market and away from consumer. This sounds to me like expensive government buyers that don't care what things cost. This could be the only way that OQO will make a profit.

Either way, expect the new OQO to be very, very expensive.

If the worst happens and OQO goes under then consdier ourselves the lucky ones that bought a piece of hardware that was years ahead of its time.

Jory started OQO with Jonathan Betts-LaCroix and a couple others - as a founder I doubt he makes less money now doing engineering work than he made as CEO.

For all we know, Jory wanted to stop being CEO and concentrate on doing engineering work... I think that saying he was canned from being the CEO is quite presumptious!

I'd be happier as an engineer than as a CEO (if I started a business), so maybe I'm projecting
