Yeah, I've been keeping my eye on that site, hoping against hope the prices actually come down to 'expensive' rather than 'typical-government-priced-astronomical-your-tax-dollars-at-work'.

I think you would be more interested in the 1.8" version.
What I like is: 64GB, 1.8" , IDE ,7mm height $coming in September this year
Now that would be awsome.

I see in the 02 that it has some material to support the drive in the event that u drop it. An SSD drive would not need that support as it has no moving parts so if the 01 has the same then you could remove it altogether and give yourself a few more mm.

I already opened up the OQO 01+ and changed the hard drive. The support is mostly around the edge and not much on the side. If you take out the support material you gain only about 1 mm and not much more.

The 01/01+ use 5mm hdds:
Toshiba MK2004GAL 20GB, 54mm x 78.5mm x 5mm
Toshiba MK3006GAL 30GB, 54mm x 78.5mm x 5mm
Does anyone have a link for <$250 16 Gb SSD?
I'm gold with an upgrade at this point.

Great try.
Measurements were made on SanDisk SSD 1.8” SSD UATA 5000 1.8" 32GB ZIF and 1.8” HDD MK6008GAH, 4200RPM, 60GB, ATA ZIF.
Measurements for Vista were made using these components inside a Dell D420 notebook.
The MK6008GAH is 54mm x 78.5mm x 8mm, so the SSD will probably sit in the same exact spot (aka no wiggle room, thus the same dimensions).
This is 3mm too thick.
