I found this here: link

We have considered the possibility in upgrading 01+'s to have the 32GB Solid State drives in them. With this, we feel the device could be revived. The 01+ with 32GB Solid State would retail for $1295 and ship inside of a week with XP Pro. The other consideration is using our new EVDO upgrade option that allows you to surf online with Rev A speeds and no cables or external USB Modems.

I'm curious if this is something that you think would be a good idea for us to pursue?

Kindest Regards,

Very interesting offer.

I sent a request asking about an SSD upgrade for my 01+ instead getting a whole new device with the SSD.

MY OQO WORK WHIT 3 AA BATTERIES

I have made a box that lodges three batteries and I place it instead of the original battery.

Better question... why did you put this comment in a thread about SSD drives in older OQO's? You should just start your own post about your battery solution...

I sent buildyourumpc.com a note on Monday and I haven't heard from them yet.

Hmmm...

I wanted to share this from OQOTALK.COM: link

It look like Buildyourumpc is not a reputable company.

Read John Lee's experience and I, for one, will not send them my 01+.

Interesting, I feel a little like that company is hurting me as well, since I'm trying to sell my OQO 01+ and the have some retarded deal saying they will sell it for 600 bucks or something if you get on their waiting list. Yet again a list for something that they may not actually be able to provide. I emailed back and forth a bit with this guy a long time ago. It seemed like a thrown together type of company, but didn't seem disreputable. It's kind of sad.

I bought a 32GB SSD with the correct connector for the OQO 01+ from

link

The thickness of this SSD is 8 mm. It does not fit the 01+. It might fit the 01+ if I can take out the casing which turns out not so easy to do. Before attemping to take out the casing I connect it as an external hard drive. However my computer does not regconized it as a hard drive like other 1.8" hard drives I attach to this same connector . I appreciate any suggestion on this situation. Thanks.
I took out the casing and it fits into the OQO 01+. I will need to reinstall everything since I could not copy the old hard drive to it.

Was it recognized by the OQO?

What was the model number for the SSD? The newegg link doesn't show product.
Price?

Do you have any pictures of your operation?

This is awesome.

The newegg link only has the 16 SSD now with model # MCAQE16G8APR-0XA00 . My 32 SSD model number is MCBOE32G8APR-0XA00. The price is $530 with tax and shipping the total cost is $578. Ebay has it for $700.00.

I did not take any picture of my operation. After took out the four screws you just pry off the casing side that bulge out with a thin flat screw driver. It turned out not that hard. You just need to be careful not to damage the plastic part that contains the chip. OQO recognizes it as a hard drive with 32GB formated with FAT32. I reformated it with NTFS.

What's the model number for your 32GB SSD?

I guess I'm keeping an eye out for one as the prices drop and it becomes more available.

My 32 SSD model number is MCBOE32G8APR-0XA00.

Do you mean you take the flash drive out of the metal casing? Where are the 4 screws you remove. On the drive or on the OQO?
