I was driving a car without navigation and got pulled over by a police man looking at the google maps turn by turn written instructions on the iphone. I was all over the road...luckily he just wanted to make sure I wasn't drunk. It'd be okay if you are on a bicycle or walking but driving is a bit dangerous, so marginally useful application, i.e. better than nothing."

Not to recomend anything that's unsafe or illegal but it is possible to check such info without being "drunk" on the road

Also, I like how this device isn't as sexy as the iPhone and oqo 02. I hate people bugging me in public places...that's one nice thing about a thinkpad...everyone just says...oh, an old IBM. haha"

Well due to it's size and the screen size people will think its an UMPC and WILL indeed ask you about it its not as easy to "hide" in public as an iPhone "

I disagree. The OQO 01...nobody was interested in that device. I'd get people asking me about where I found such a small 10" laptop and even when I pointed to the OQO and said, that's a full xp computer they didn't get it...it was still a PDA. The iphone is popular so having it in your hand means people SEE it. The OQO 02 is shiny like the iPhone, it looks interesting. The x7501 is somewhere in between probably between the 01 and 02, so I suspect there will be less of an interest. A lot of people have commented about how ugly and old fashion the x7501 looks and to me that is great news!"

LOL, I thnk you said some parts the other way around (10" laptop?) but I see what you mean, I guess it depends where you move around and who the people you "run into" tend to be also

I use a Canon high speed scanner and if it is a book I'll use my Plustek Optic Book 3600 and of course there are small scanners by Pentex. But I haven't found any evidence that shows camera scanning works well. If it did then I'd gladly get rid of my scanners.
"

OK well I never started using scanners, I do have a brand new pen beesting I think the brand is, so if someone needs/wants one let me know paid something like close to $200 for it.

I just give my iPhone (or my N95, if I want GPS tracking) to my trusty co-pilot/assistant and let them give me turn-by-turn directions based on the info displayed on the phone - simple "

Since the co-pilot I end up having a lot of times barks, I don't think this option would work for me on regular basis

Let's see how the Meizu turns out...

Those that have come up to me at various places intrigued with 10, 11, 12 inch laptops more than 4.5 to 8.9" devices that I have owned. Mostly people don't believe a small XP computer could be practical and well, at times I agree. Many just see them as either a PDA or some kind of word processor or even portable dvd player especially with the 7" and under category. People find the OQO 02 until they ask how much. Most likely why the iPhone is not selling so well, it's too pricey for a phone for the masses.

iPhone isn't selling well? I didn't know that.

You buying the x7501 got me thinking about it again

I don't know the specifics, but I heard that Apple reported they weren't selling what they thought they'd sell.

It's just too pricey for a phone for most people. I think what Apple should have done is sell it for $299 and offer ways to do widget add-ons, i.e. don't provide all the applications, make people buy them like they want people to buy their iTunes songs. Make it to where you can make a profit not on the hardware but on the applications...kinda like Xbox and PS3. $650 to $700 (taxes) for the 8gb iphone is a bit steep even for people making killer salaries, they just see it as too expensive for a phone.

If the x7501 works for me then it'll make me pounds lighter and thousands of dollars richer...all those extra batteries and chargers that I don't have to carry around.

LOL yeah let us know your impressions of the x7501, I never used mine for a full day even but that's one thing I'd be curious about is the battery time with WWAN on constantly. You got me looking at my favorite device again too

From what I've read I suspect that if you were surfing like mad for 4 to 5 hours then you'd have a dead x7501, yet I don't use small devices like this. If I'm going to sit down for hours then I'm going to use a laptop. So we are different here, so my battery life will be different than your usage. Only if I am stuck somewhere away from access to a laptop, then I might work on it for hours but that's rare for me. I suspect it will last me throughout the day for what I will be doing for the most part.

Actually same here that's why I couldn't give up my Sont TX750 even when (or if again) I had my OQOs, I just needed to have the full size (well kinda) screen nevertheless, but the reason I ask/want/need this is so I can be in CONSTANT online state whenever / whereever I am, it's not a matter of constantly surfing but things like Skype, and other things that I need to be online for, and yes the want/need to INSTANTLY at any given point/time access any place on the web for some reason. But YES I agree I don't either spend 4-5 hrs with my eyes glued to the 2-3" sceen

And I have to say I LOVE the TX750 for that it gets in REAL LIFE around 6hours with WIFI or WWAN on, and thats with std battery, I never even got the 1.5 size battery which is supposed to give like 9hours.

Did you not order the x7501 like overnight or 2-3 day shipping? Did you get it by now?

I've just bought an iphone and I like it a lot. However, the Edge speed is a little bit sluggish compared to the Sprint EVDO on my OQO. This iphone is my first sim card type of phone. I wonder if I can take this AT&T sim card and put it in a Nokia N95 phone (plan to buy one) and get HSDPA speed? Thanks for your answer.
