Hi all, this is from the rumor mill so it may or may not be on the mark....

Rumor has it that a Vaio UX follow-up may be on the way with an announcement pending for the 17th... Overheard specs at rumor time:

ULV Core2Duo CPU
64GB SSD
5-inch display
extended battery life

I don't know anymore, but as these things go, it could be on the mark or it could be nothing...

either way, fingers crossed!

If you check Sony japan, the price for all the ultra portable (including UX) is reduced.

I highly doubt it, there has been 0 info about a new UX coming out, you should see the 148 post long thread over a MPCT on the subject - link

thanks for that link, I wonder if there is ANY info out there that might have any truth to it?

Sony's quite good at keeping things quiet until they want it to be announced. I suspect they are taking quite a sales hit on the UX in Asia given the popularity of the new Fujitsu U1010

Sony's also quite good at being a dirtbag company.

If Sony is going to release a new model in the US, then there will be a partial listing on the FCC website (because they have to get approval for WiFi, Bluetooth, and cellular radios and the Freedom of Information Act requires that some of the filing information be made pubic). Lately, companies have petitioned the FCC not to release specific information until a certain date (which is usually just after the information is made public on the company web site). So far, nothing has shown up, so it's likely that it will be two months or more before anything comes out (in the US).

True even for products not to be released in the USA IF it uses some bands that are in use in the USA and the product might end up here one way or the other, but take the iPhone I think it wasn't in the FCC papers before LONG after it was publically shown?
