So when do people expect the HSDPA flipstart to become available. They use the same Molex mini-pci connector as flybook's hsdpa device, but that sim card holder looks like a six pin, yet they don't look parallel pins like most cell phone sim cards. Hmmm.

More on the FS from FCC:

sorry, i thought those pics showed a sim card holder...that's EVDO flipstart...sorry, I mistakenly thought they were pics of an hsdpa model.

It sure does, and I thought at first that its a lot larger but it's not I also thought that was a HD next to the sierra card but I think thats the LCD on the lid so thats actually the board in the lid!

What is strange is the HSDPA Flipstart FCC pics show a very strange SIM card holder. Check out this link and look at the sim card...the pins aren't parallel like most every sim card I've seen. link"

Sim card on the FS? I thought it was (simless) EVDO!?

You're talking about the holder next to the Sierra Wireless card?
I guess the opening for the SIM card is under the "ENZO" label (thats what it says in the FCC pics!?)

jkontherun the very last minute opens it up in his video:
"

Here it is?

From jkontherun video, it appears he slides the logo open to find something he's not sure what it is...

But the FCC pic shows this holder FAR from teh middle!?
JKontherun video it sure is in the middle!

From the Flipstart website, it is a custom USB 2.0 port for snap-on accessories that provide further expansion options for your FlipStart. The first snap-on accessory will be a FlipStart Snap Camera.

Perhaps there's also a SIM slot accessible from the opening (it sure looks that way from the FCC documents)... Someone should try swapping the mini PCI-express EVDO module with an HSDPA module and checking the edge of the opening in the lid for a SIM slot!

Ok thank you, but that would be in the middle as mentioned the FCC documents sure indicates there would be a SIM Card holder there.
How about asking a question about that

Thank you LOTS, ecsk2!

In trying to figure out what's what.... the image labeled
"Diversity antenna on front of motherboard" seems to show most of the major components.

The large square INTEL chip, I can only imagine, is the CPU. The two rectangles to its immediate left-
Could those be RAM modules? It would be disappointing if they were SMD but I guess not too surprising.

There does appear to be a bit of room above the MB; more than I would have thought,
but quite possibly its all needed for airflow.

I'd like to see images of the underside (particularly the HDD bay) but I suspect
the FCC is less interested in that, than they are with radio-broadcasting components.

There is a SIM card holder. The SIM is inserted in the door slid in sideways; Blazepoint have suggested that in models with 3G/HSDPA radios, the SIM slot has an icon to indicate orientation. When the door is slid shut, the SIM is held in place - not sure how that would interact with the Snap! camera and other accessories. It's spring loaded; when you open the cover the SIM pops out for removal.
