You only need to remove 4 screws behind the battery. The hard drive is in a slot on the back cover. Be careful to pull the back cover enough so that you can remove the hard drive from its slot. The hard drive is in that position due to the protective rubber. You can just pry it out using a small flat head screwdriver. I do not think you want to swap the hard drive that offen since the zif connector is quite delicate. You need to remove a tape between the zif cable and the hard drive and reuse it (unless you can find a similar tape).

Did you see the RAM module while you were in there? Is it soldered to the motherboard or?

No I did not see the RAM module since the hard drive is between the back of the circuit broad and the back cover. I believe the RAM module is on the other side of the broad. I only saw the cooling block and the heat pipe to keep the CPU cool.
Any one know the reason why I cannot resume from standby with the ssd. I copied the image of the hard drive to the ssd so the two drives have exactly the same software configuration. I tried to reinstall XP and load in the update Flipstart software but I still cannot resume from standby. I have no problem with the ssd and the OQO 01+. Thanks for your suggestion.

64GB Samsung SSD = P/N: MCCOE64GEMPP
60GB Toshiba HDD = MK6008GAH
60GB Samsung HDD = HS060HB
Very important that the drive have a ZIF connector, and not be thicker then 5mm
If you unscrew the four screws on the bottom side of the battery the mag will come off easy. WARNING! The rubber shock mount on the hdd may be stuck to the mag so lift carefully and use a flat tip to unseat the shock mount from the underside of the mag. You will see a peace of capton tape holding the zif connector to the hdd, take it off carefully. Once the tape is off there is a little brown gate that has to be lifted to disconnect zip cable from hdd. DO NOT damage that zif connection cable it is very fragile and any little scratch could make it inoperable.
Connect new drive, shut connector gate, place tape back on, put shock mount back on, and carefully place mag back over drive making sure hdd and mount fit into the mag hdd holder.
PS. Removing the warranty sticker to unscrew the mag VOIDs the warranty.

I put a 32GB SSD by sandisk in my Flipstart. I need to take it out of the casing. However the Flipstart cannot resume from standby with the sandisk SSD so I put the 30 GB hard drive back. Any suggestion to the reason why the sandisk SSD cannot resume from standby? I copy the disk image of the hard drive to the SSD so the two systems should be the same.

It's not the SSD that's the problem; it's the Embedded Controller causing a timing issue.
If one upgrades to a SSD, wake from stand by will not be consistent. If wake from stand by is something that has to be had then upgrading to a SSD isn't a good option. The 60GB HDDs are much more inexpensive if increasing storage is the only issue.
Granted the read / write is much faster on an SDD making swap file access much faster thus increasing OS performance and boot up.

Orgwon, when I replaced the hard drive in my OQO 01+ with a SSD I have no problem with wake up from standby. However the SSD in my OQO is from samsung with IDE connector. This SSD is not as fast as the sandisk SSD I tried in my Flipstart. Do you know of a way to resolve the problem for the Flipstart to wake up from standby with a SSD? Thanks.

It is the Embedded Controller in the FlipStart that causes the timing issue. Only an updated EC and/or BIOS to the FlipStart can correct the wake from stand by problem. That is why the SSDs work well in other devices but not in the FlipStart.

I updated the most recent drivers from the Flipstart website but it still does not work. So these updates do not containt the EC and/or BIOS you mentioned? Thanks for the information.
