OQO 02 updated with 1.6 Ghz cpu, SSD and EV-DO Rev. A

Nice high end updates, but some maybe interested in low end models as starting price is dropped to $1,299.

ummmm, drop the scroll bars & they could easily fit a 5.6" (even up to a 6") all while maintaining the same size

the OQO keeps getting bigger, as does the bezel around the screen. they either need to put in a larger/higher rez or make the unit smaller to fit the 5" screen better. but instead of either of those options they keep using the same small low rez screen, which is a very oddball approach to design.

If OQO is listening, they should stop listening. They're doing just fine! This was an excellent update! I do hope for HSDPA, but I suspect that will happen anyway.

And I *like* the scrollbars!

OQO's big contribution is the comprehensiveness of its product---they way the OQO team touches every detail. No one else does that in the small computer space except Sony. OQO is the last company whose design I would second-guess.

I wonder if OQO will swap out my Sprint Rev 0 for a Verizon Rev A. The cards should be interswappable, at least by OQO right?

It's the same card for both Verizon and Sprint, just a matter of whom's system it's registered in. So there's no reason that they couldn't do so, however I've become pretty leery of OQO's handling of such matters.

Hmm, the e2 is out. Basically the same as the 02 but with a UK optimized keyboard layout.

I really like the scrollbars too.

I would buy the low end model if it had pen input...

*Alt*, all you need for pen input is a compatible Wacom pen or the OQO pen - all Model 02's already have the active digitizer.
*tnkgrl* link the good model has a "*" by it. At the bottom of the specs it says "*this configuration does not support pen input". I assume they reduced the price by removing the active digitizer.

It still has the active digitizer. They just don't include the the pen. Also, it comes with XP Home which doesn't support pen input, but if you bought XP Tablet or Vista (not recommended on the low end version) and installed it yourself, along with buying your own Wacom pen, then you would be good to go.

Ok, according to the CEO at link the latest OQO "good" models don't include an active digitizer (although the original "good" models apparently do).

Thanks for the update Kendrick.

I have a Sony UX380n thats only 4 months old with about 8 months of warranty left, and have been used only a few times, any one interested in trading a OQO model 2 in any condition for my UX? I am only interested in local face to face trades, I live in Wisconsin if interested just call me at 414-975-4356
