That's a pretty enlightening comment. For me, my device has always been a means to an end. (I want to run this software in this environment. This is the machine that will do that. I buy that machine.) The result is essentially the sum of it's parts. I'm not looking for "an experience." I'm looking to get the job done and on to things that matter. It's like taking a business trip. I want to get there.

The Apple philosophy sounds more like taking a vacation trip. It matters if the scenery is pretty. The object isn't so much getting there and back. It's having a lot of fun in the process. A vacation is all about the experience.

That ultimately doesn't change my take on the Air, but it does help me better understand the people who see it "different"

The iphone is the best example of this.

I have to agree on this, I *SO* had to eat my critical words about the HVGA screen resolution of the iPhone! I've never thought about the screen resolution since I got it as not being sufficient!

So when is Apple going to give us a HANDTOP COMPUTER???

@MeanSquare - you pretty much sum it up It's not about the end result - it's about the process.

Wow, I couldn't agree more.
Thank you ecsk2 for bringing that to our attention. I've not seen anything as exciting as that in a very long time. If it was out now I'd buy it if it was sensibly priced. What is sensible? Mmmm, $800 to £2,000 max depending on what's in it!
The possibilities of a clamshell dual touch screen true UMPC just get me salivating.
I gave up on the Flipstart and although it is now very nicely priced it isn't now what interested me in it four years ago. The most interesting tool presently on the market I think is the Fujitsu U8240 in its varous renditions.

So, come on APPLE please do watch. Apply what you have and LEAP several steps beyond anything that anyone else can do at the moment. Produce the truly AMAZING!

Just another nice/interesting concept

That's what I've been "crying" for some two years now (that was way before I was even a "Mac convert", or even owned a single Apple product )
ever since I saw the winner of this: link which I started to call "Adam's Apple" see the link and you'll see why
