I will be installing a new 80GB Hard Disk into my Flipstart and would like to know what programs others have used to successfully clone and write the image to a new hard disk. Thanks

I've done it with the EZ-Gig hardware from Apricorn, but I end up with a partition that I'm trying to consolidate (Partition Magic doesn't work on the FS). I had to image the drive, then restore, I could not directly make a clone. (For my UX, I was able to directly make a clone.)

I used a disk image program "pqdi.exe" and save an image file of the hard disk under DOS . I saved the disk image file to a 1.8" USB hard drive. After installing the new hard drive I booted the Flipstart under DOS using the same USB hard drive and restored the image file to the new hard drive.

Thanks guys, I made an image using an Acronis True Image 11 Boot CD but not sure whether this will work or not since it doesn't always work when used on different hard drives.

I am very glad to report total success from the Acronis True Image version 11 restore to my new 80GB Hard Disk. I used the Acronis Boot CD and it took about 50 mins to restore 40+ GB of data (lots of games). I think that is pretty quick and definately not too painful.

thanks for reporting back--did it put it all on one partition? I have having trouble merging my partitions, the FS seems resistant to partition software.

No, it did not put the partitions back together. I used Acronis Disk Director Suite (Boot CD) to merge the partitions but the program would only run in Safe Mode. Of course, Partition Manager never works and fails eventually, even from a Boot CD.
When I restored the Acronis True Image, I told it to delete the existing partition. Maybe if I didn't chose this option then partition merging may not have been required.
