I'm looking for a used Flipstart - cheap, preferably... Anyone interested in selling? It's a for a special project! I've been using a borrowed one and it's turning out to be very hackable PM me.

take some pics of her naked please. I've yet to see what inside the display.

In the lid there's a mini-PCIe card slot, a SIM holder (so yes, getting HSDPA to work is as simple as dropping in the right card), there's the LID display, the built-in camera, there's the main display and its inverter. I think the camera-attachment connector is just a USB port, and there's some room in there for mods!

There's also some room for mods next to the hard drive inside the main body...

tnkgrl: Is there any possiblity to help the RAM ? One thing that I found is
link

My FS has excecive paging especially in Vista. (That HDD sound is quite anying)

Thank you

@snowviper that won't work... Sorry! It's for all practical purposes impossible to upgrade the RAM, unless you can find higher capacity RAM
chips that are compatible with the existing ones, you have access to a reflow station, and you are extremely skilled with it.

Running Vista is a bad idea in the first place. Running Vista with 512 MB of RAM on a mobile device is an even worse idea

SIGH... =(

another question, is the Dino's control the keys and mouse ?

Can it be remove or replace with something else ?

(USB hub etc ?)

Or can it be re-program to run Gatekepper program ? (so I could liberate some mem but still be protected ?)

Thank you again =)

But the Intel Turbo Memory Card doesn't increase the memory, it puts a 1 GB cache on the PCI bus that purports to have some intelligence to select what it caches based on your habits.

Might help to reduce the paging, for twenty four bucks it's worth a try.

@wodin mini-PCIe slots carry either mini-PCI signals, or USB signals, or both... Like the OQO, the Flipstart features a mini-PICe slot with only USB signals, since most 3G cards only require USB signals. The Intel Turbo Memory card, like WiFi cards and SSD cards, only works with mini-PCI signals. So it's not going to work in the Flipstart!

tnkgrl: Do you have any suggestion on HSDPA card that can go nicely with FS ?

Thank you

Is the processor is also solder in ?

It would be nice if it had a built in sim card slot!

According to Tnkgrl FS do have the build in SIM card.

@GadgetFreak there's definitely a SIM holder - just slide the door on the lid to the left and insert the SIM into the holder to the right... You'll need to insert the SIM all the way until it clicks in place (and disappears into the slot! Long nails help.

tnkgrl: are there specific card that we have to use or most of the card work ? (I think the 4G is about to be unveil)

@snowviper most 3G mini-PCIe cards should work (like Sierra Wireless, Novatel, and Option). I've tried the Sierra Wireless MC8775 and it worked fine.
