I really hope someone can help me with this, as I'm currently facing a choice of WiFi OR WAN with reboots required between steps.
Specifically my FlipStart Control panel doesn't offer Cellular (in any form) under the "Turn on/off bluetooth/wifi/cellular" tab - only Bluetooth and WiFi. I don't know how to make it show this option; there is a set of registry entries relating to it under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\FlipStart\ControlCenter.
The option "WANOn" set to "1" enables my 3G radio. But it is set to "O" when I enable WiFi in the control center. To re-enable WAN I need to edit the registry and reboot :/
What entries might I need to edit to get the option to show in the control center, either within the application/preferences/registry or elsewhere?

Hmmm, It sounds like you have a special UK (read no WWAN hardware) version of the Control Panel Software. I wonder if just copying the USA version of the EXE would do it, or if da buggah is burried in a DLL somewhere.

It's not a UK FlipStart - mine's a very early one (no FCC ID, etc). I'll try the uninstall/reinstall, as I thought I had already installed SP2. WWAN works with the registry entry so I am assuming the Dino board is behaving and it's just a software issue.

If the FlipStart serial number does not have an "S" in it the Control Center software will not offer the "Cellular On" option.
Example: VULCANE1001S7430CU would have the option enabled and VULCANE1001 7430CU would not.

Horsefeathers. Mine's missing an S (and has an odd format of serial number). Any way around that?

Orgwon - you've said that a couple of times, but that's really not practical for me. I'd appreciate any help, but I can't really do it over that distance!

Joshua: Have you tried to update the bios ? or May be the firmware on the Dinoboard ? Seem like the dinoboard control the whole thing if you can reflash the dinoboard I bet you will have "normal" FS. Unless the FS has different dinoboard.

Mine is an E1001 model, but pre-production - engineering prototype. I'm sure the boards are all identical as the registry key enables the WWAN just fine - so I'm guessing the Dinoboard retains the FlipStart's serial number or some other 'switch' that tells the ControlCenter if it is an E1001 or E1001S. My choices being, reflash the Dino board (I love the Ferrari-themed names on this, I'm going to rename it "Mondial" if I reformat/reinstall ever) or find some way of patching the control panel I guess.
