Several of us U enthusiasts at my and companies we do work with have been compiling this FAQ:
Greyhat Sony U FAQ
We modeled it after ctitanic's device journals and kept adding sections, so that we don't have to keep re-reading the same forum threads to do special things to our U's or if we missed any information we could go to one device-specific site like ctitanic's site if we stayed away from the device for a while.
ctitanic's site
We'll keep it up to date as long as we have the device.
I've shared this at JK's forum since he's asked me for one for a while. We didn't realize how much effort it would take to collect all of this information.
We just ordered an OQO, so we'll consider writing a similar FAQ for the OQO if there is interest.
Have fun!
ADD 7/1/06:
For those looking for a UX site, the Micropctalk site looks like a nice start: link

Fil - this is awesome. Just wish it was a Wikipedia, as there were multiple areas where I wanted to add stuff (places where there were words but the links hadn't been added, etc.), would be nice to have access to modify it. :D

Sorry, security company...too much liability in allowing that.
Post add-ons here or shoot messages to upc <AT **> greyhat.com and one of us will add it. Seraph, Angus, and a couple of other folks have been adding a lot of stuff and I go back and edit things (go figure I edit their work...I can barely post at forums without hitting the edit button...darn spell check took my skills .
Thanks.
I think that I will start an OQO FAQ next since mine's on order and I have a whole new device to learn about (and show off to customers).

If you haven't checked it out recently, we've added updated directions to get the Stick Remote Control FULLY operational using Windows Media Player, new car/plane mounting solutions, a note about memory, another hdd upgrade story using the 60Gb hdd from an iPod, XM BT info, more Linux installation support, added to the interesting software for the Sony U section (OQO users may get some ideas), enhanced off-line browsing info (Avantgo-like), added Windows performance enhancement tips, and links to online resources while using the U on the road.

fil,
I just said this yesterday on the Yahoo eGroup,
but I wanted to make sure you heard it directly:
WOW! Excellent compilation of data and links
for the U series! I am truly impressed and
thankful for all the effort. I've noticed that the
traffic on the Yahoo site (and this one) has slowed
greatly in the last couple of weeks.
I have no doubt it's because new users are finding
all of the answers that they need on
link ...
Thanks again; you are my hero! (And it's also
cool to see some of my own findings posted there,
It's always nice to feel helpful!)
Sincerely,
Stephen

No problem and thank you.
At first my guys started posting who was the source of the information, but the FAQ started looking confused and also in some areas, like the hard drive replacement (where you were the main contributor), there were several authors, multiple sites, multiple pictures, and comments so it was hard to find "the contributor."
I hope the OQO folks get going up at Wikipedia for the OQO Wiki FAQ, I told my guys that they need to start working again and stop goofing off with their handtops...

Yeah, not looking for any glory, just glad to see the information exchange working!
Given Sony's near total lack of information and support for this baby, I'm glad that
there's such an enthusiastic user community out here. We are the ones who keep this
machine going (and growing.)
Thanks again!

Stephen ,
I think we do have to dub you the Sony U hacker though...after reviewing the number of times we bumped into your posts and useful advice...you are the biggest tinkerer amongst the Sony U crew.
Kudos and we added your handle to our appreciation section at the bottom of the site.
Keep it up...just don't break your U.

Sorry for the long overdue update, but I spent some time updating the FAQ tonight.
Eventually, the OQO will have an FAQ.
